Set out from Marseille’s Old Port on a small, silent electric boat with a French- or English-speaking captain such as Patrick or Eric. Cruise toward the Frioul archipelago, stop in a sheltered cove for swimming and snorkeling, then enjoy fresh vegetarian Mediterranean food, rosé, music, and sunset views before returning beneath Marseille’s evening lights.

“Food option could have been better - A balanced diet with options from the food groups with more protein choices. Finding the boat entrance was a little tricky but we waited under the shed by the gate as instructed, until the captain came for us. Boat ride was beautiful, our captain was a great one, we got to swim, had nice weather and took beautiful photos. The boats had life jackets and shoe storage. It wasn’t overcrowded either. We would have loved blankets when it got chilly on our return.”

14.From Marseille: Aix en Provence Wine and Cheese Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 30 reviews · 7h 30m · from $176

Spend 7.5 hours in the Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire region with a small group of up to eight. Visit two family-run wineries and a traditional goat farm, taste rosé, red, white wine, and cheese, then enjoy free time in Aix-en-Provence. Guides such as Eric and Jean Gabriel bring strong local wine knowledge to the day.

“The tour was good although I feel lacking. Jean Gabriel was very knowledgeable about the wines. The visit to Aix de Provence village was too long. We would have stayed in Marseille if we wanted to do shopping. Much preferred to visit another place of local produce and wines. Also a map or guided tour of Aix de Provence of key points of interests, times and locations of the markets would have been of assistance. On such a hot day an indication of those establishments with air conditioning would be an advantage.”
